Parsons Behle & Latimer is pleased to announce that associate attorney Ethan Foster has been elected president of the Appeals Section of the Nevada State Bar and assumes his responsibilities today. Based in the firm’s Reno office, Foster focuses his practice on appellate advocacy, Constitutional law and complex litigation, representing clients in both state and federal courts. He has built a reputation for his clear, strategic analysis and his ability to navigate nuanced legal issues before appellate panels.

Foster previously served as secretary of the Appeals Section as well as president-elect and was elected president during the section’s annual meeting in September 2025. In this leadership role, he will help shape the section’s priorities, including fostering stronger collaboration with the appellate bench and developing infrastructure to preserve institutional knowledge for future members, including creating a position for a historian as well as developing a document center where each practice subcommittee could preserve its materials, allowing momentum to always be moving forward and growing. Foster would also like to develop a Rules subcommittee during his tenure.

Reflecting on his new position, Foster said, “I’m excited to be involved with and help to build both the Nevada State Bar’s appellate group and simultaneously help to build Parsons’ appellate group, which is very much underway currently. The two tasks are cross applicable.”

Foster views the current and past leadership of the appellate section very positively for being forward looking and focusing on development in law or on procedural rules. He says, “The Court of Appeals is new in Nevada, so this is a great time to be an appellate lawyer. We are workshopping new processes as the caseload growths in lockstep with the growth of the state. The attorneys who are drawn to appellate work are a great group of attorneys. I’m looking forward to getting to know more of the attorneys in our section.”

Beyond his service to the Bar, Foster is deeply engaged in the development of Parsons’ own appellate practice. He regularly advises clients on appellate strategy and has played a key role in handling matters that address significant constitutional and procedural questions. His work reflects his commitment to not only achieving favorable outcomes for clients but also to contributing to the growth of Nevada’s appellate practice at large.

Please join us in congratulating Ethan on this important achievement and his dedication to advancing both Parsons’ and Nevada’s appellate practice.
